About
In Contempt is a twice-weekly comic strip of political satire written and drawn by Kevin Moore.
Format
You may notice going through the recent archives that the size and dimensions of the strip changes dramatically. This reflects my belief that content determines form (even as form places limits on content, but that’s another issue); i.e. - if I think an idea is better served by a larger size with more panels, I will just go for it. That’s the freedom of the InterWebz. Normally I will put out a three-or-four-panel horizontal strip, but be prepared for the occasional wild change.
New Contempt vs. Old Contempt
There are two versions of In Contempt: New and Old (or “Classic”, if you will.)
Old Contempt is the original incarnation of strip as I created it in January 2000 (with only one format change in 2002) for self-syndication to alternative weekly newspapers. At the time, my focus was on print, and the website was just a giant calling card and archive warehouse. In December 2004 I ceased production of the strip so that I could focus on raising kids and going to graduate school. All nearly five years of the archives are still available for your enjoyment.
New Contempt - that is, the strip you see on the main page now - is the new Web-focused version of the strip. It runs twice weekly (usually) and changes format when I think it necessary (see Format, above.) I plan on assembling collections for self-publication and submit individual pieces to various print publications, but the main focus for me is expressing myself politically and artistically through the Internet.
The Artist
Oh, yeah - me. I have been cartooning my entire life (as long as I can remember).
Wanderlost - Besides the political work you see here, I am also the creator behind a weekly updated adventure series starring a little pig, Sheldon, and his barnyard friends. Don’t worry, it’s cute, but not cloying. Or such is my goal. I post a new page at its home site (currently under construction) and at Modern Tales every Monday.
Mooretoons - I am beginning to collect much of my early underground minicomics, illustrations, and other “stuff” at my main site Mooretoons, where I blog about everything related to politics, libraries, youth services, and whatever other random crap dazzles my short attention span. It’s better than I make it sound, honest.
