I could have easily set this toon in Pakistan, where the predator drone activity is heavy and has received plenty of press attention lately. But I chose Afghanistan because that’s where Obama plans to “surge” or however you want to put it; and that’s where predator drones have left a mark on the population since the U.S. invasion 7 years ago. As many have observed, the fates of Afghanistan and Pakistan are linked due to the U.S. occupation in the former and the political instability of the latter, not to mention ethnic Pashtun regions overlapping the countries’ borders and the mountainous regions where al-Qaeda and other rebel groups like to launch attacks from.
